In-country volunteering

Before you apply

Understand what will be expected of you when applying for an in-country volunteering role.

Eligibility

Program volunteers must be Australian citizens or holders of a Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). Refer to the Passports, Visas, and Work Permits section of the Volunteer Guidebook for detailed considerations.

Do your research

  • Familiarise yourself with the position description for the assignment you're interested in.
  • Get acquainted with the partner organisation and the work they do.
  • Research the country and local area, taking into account the climate and culture and other factors that may impact your experience living in the region as a volunteer.

Gather the information you need for your application

You will need:

  • A copy of your current passport (with six blank pages)
  • Your resume
  • Qualification details
  • Details of dependants (partners or children) who may join you on assignment (for assignments where approved dependants are permitted)
