Get involved as a volunteer

Take part in international volunteering in a culturally safe way that works for you.

International volunteering is a life-changing opportunity to share your knowledge and skills, as well as learn new perspectives while connecting with another culture. Indigenous Australians are uniquely placed to combine their personal and professional experiences with an understanding of the importance of culture, communication, and sustainability in development. The learning that you develop on a volunteer assignment can also be brought back to your own community to drive change.

New assignments are always being added to our assignment search page

Assignments can range from one month to two years in duration and can be completed in-person or online. The program works with community, government, and not-for-profit organisations across a range of sectors, in 26 different countries, with lots of assignments to choose from

Support is available at every stage of the volunteering journey

The Indigenous Pathways team is here to provide support before, during, and after your assignment.

If you would like to undertake an assignment but can’t find the right one, the Indigenous Programs team can assist you. You can have a yarn about your skills and experience, register your interest, and be contacted when new volunteering opportunities become available. Sign up to the Talent Pool, or download the paper-based Expression of Interest Form.
