Senior Secondary Science Teaching Support Officer

We’re looking for a Senior Secondary Science Teaching Support Officer who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Vanuatu. 

• This assignment seeks to improve senior secondary science teachers in their teaching skills in five senior secondary schools on Efate; and assist the Ministry to share lessons learned with other schools in Shefa and other provinces, including defining further support to implement this project country-wide.
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Diploma or Bachelor of Science, or Applied Science, and over five years of Science teaching or related field. Additional qualifications in education is an advantage 
• You will be working alongside CDU and Ministry personnel and selected Science teachers.

The core purpose of the Vanuatu National Curriculum is to provide a quality, relevant and harmonized curriculum to all students in Vanuatu from preschool to year 13 through conventional teaching delivery by teachers in classroom and laboratories as appropriate. Students tests and exams results have shown that students performance in maths and science needs improvement and the need to support the teachers in their strategies and teaching delivery is identified as important for this to happen. There is no readily available qualified local persons to do this so hence an assistance of an expert volunteer is being sought.
