We’re looking for a National Building Code Compliance and Enforcement Strengthening Officer who can live and volunteer for 12 months or more in Vanuatu 


  • This assignment seeks to support the City Council in strengthening its institutional capacity to enforce the National Building Code of Vanuatu.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need to have a Degree in Building Surveying in Architecture, Civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Urban planning (building regulation/statutory planning knowledge) or related field, or Diploma of Building and Construction.
  • You will be working alongside the Town Planner and planning officers of the council and Senior Housing and Settlement Officer of Department of Urban Affairs Planning to build their capacity in the National Building Code enforcement and the development of standardized processes


About the Partner Organisation 

Port Vila City Council is the municipal governing body responsible for the administration and development of Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu. Established under the Municipalities Act [CAP 126], PVCC operates as a local government authority tasked with delivering essential services, maintaining infrastructure, and promoting the orderly growth of the city with one of its key focus besides public services and infrastructure maintenance, relates to urban planning and development that includes overseeing land use planning, zoning, and construction permits within the municipality boundary.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
