We’re looking for a Child-Friendly Governance Mentor who can live and volunteer for12 months in Nepal.

  • This assignment seeks to strengthen local capacity for implementing the CFLG framework through training and technical support in developing child-focused plans, policies, and budgets
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Child Rights, Education, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field
  • As a volunteer, you will promote child rights and inclusive governance by empowering children and youth to participate in decision-making and raising community-wide awareness of the CFLG initiative.

About the Partner Organisation

Solududhkunda Municipality, established in 2014, is the only urban local government in Solukhumbu District, Koshi Province. The municipality oversees infrastructure, taxation, urban planning, education, healthcare, and social inclusion, while also addressing issues like child protection and cyber-violence. The municipality aims to become a child-friendly local government by protecting children’s rights, ensuring access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and recreation, and fostering their active participation. A skilled Australian volunteer with expertise in child rights, local governance, and the CFLG framework can help the municipality achieve its child-friendly status. The volunteer will provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to local officials, support CFLG action plans, promote child participation, and improve coordination across health, education, and protection. While the municipality has committed staff, limited technical knowledge and resources make progress challenging. A skilled volunteer will bridge these gaps by bringing specialised skills and global best practices, helping build sustainable local capacity and ensuring effective CFLG implementation.
