Pre-departure briefing

This workshop is an important step for all volunteers before beginning their in-country assignment.

A large group of people are gathered for a group phto against a bright red wall. They all hold paper copies of flags where they will be volunteering.

Pre-departure briefings (PDB) are workshops that cover a range of topics relevant to program participants. The standard pre-departure briefing is a face-to-face three-day briefing in Melbourne and certain costs, such as flights or accommodation, are covered for those residing in Australia outside of metropolitan Melbourne. Other PDB formats may apply depending on the duration of the in-country assignment.

It is a requirement that all program participants attend the relevant pre-departure briefing. Failure to attend mandatory briefing sessions, or participate fully in the activities, may result in your assignment being delayed or cancelled.

Briefings are run regularly from the Melbourne office. Suitable dates are discussed with candidates during the application process.

More details about the pre-departure briefing are available in the Australian Volunteers Portal at the onboarding stage.
