Exploring Volunteering for Development begins in South Africa

The program team in Southern Africa is partnering with two local organisations, Probono.org and Refugee Social Services (RSS), to prototype a 12-month youth local volunteer model. The project, 'Volunteer Your Way into the Work Market,' will explore how university graduates can contribute to partner organisations' priorities while gaining skills and work experience.

Through a series of conversations with the Innovation Hub and Southern Africa program team, Probono.org and Refugee Social Services expressed their interest in getting involved. To test the idea, both organisations will be supported by two local volunteers who will serve as their graduate interns for 12 months, providing valuable contributions to the organisations and gaining professional experience at the same time.

The partners and the program are now working to recruit young local graduates for the volunteer assignments. They are excited to have the young volunteers start by the end of February.
