Partners and Families

Identifying ways for volunteer's family members to find purpose and create impact.

Why?

Our research has found that taking family on a volunteer assignment has better outcomes when family members have their own sense of purpose separate to the volunteer’s assignment.

Given the significant financial resources invested to support accompanying family members, we wanted to design new ways of creating purpose for those not on a volunteers assignment that might also enhance or expand the program.

What we’re aiming to learn

  • How can family members who accompany volunteers on assignment have a greater sense of purpose while living overseas?
  • What contributions can volunteers' family members make in the community, and for the program, while living overseas?

Our expected impact

Volunteers

Program participants are engaged and contributing to the program.

Partners

Opportunities for partners to access additional capacity.

Broader impact

Positive example of how to utilise existing resources while in the community.
