We’re looking for a Transport and Urban Solution Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Sri Lanka

  • This assignment seeks to advance inclusive and sustainable urban mobility planning in secondary cities of Sri Lanka.
  • As a volunteer, you will support capacity building and knowledge transfer with local authorities on transport planning, policy implementation, and community engagement.
  • Work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a relevant degree in urban/transport planning or a related field, and experience in mobility assessments, GIS, and stakeholder coordination.
  • You will be working alongside local government officials, planners, and UN-Habitat staff, supporting sustainable transport planning initiatives.

About the Partner Organisation

The partner organisation is UN-Habitat Sri Lanka, located in Colombo, with project activities across various secondary cities in the country.

UN-Habitat works to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. In Sri Lanka, it supports urban planning, climate resilience, and inclusive infrastructure development.

The partner needs a volunteer to strengthen technical capacity in sustainable transport planning, as there is a critical need for expertise in integrated mobility solutions to support the development of inclusive, climate-resilient urban transport systems in emerging cities.
