We’re looking for a Tourism Education and Training Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in country.

  • This assignment seeks to develop and deliver structured training programs for the university's Centre of Excellence in Tourism.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Tourism, Hospitality or a related field with experience or training in curriculum development, training design, or capacity-building programs.
  • As a volunteer, you will introduce innovative models for tourism and hospitality training.

About the Partner Organisation 

Souphanouvong University (SU) is a national public university located in Luang Prabang Province, northern Laos. SU’s primary mandate is to provide quality higher education, conduct research, and deliver community services that address local and national priorities. With its strategic location in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a leading tourism destination in Laos, SU is uniquely positioned to contribute to the sustainable growth of the tourism and hospitality industry. To fulfill this role, the university has established the Center of Excellence in Tourism, which focuses on strengthening human resource capacity, developing training programs, and fostering collaboration with industry partners.This assignment is vital for Souphanouvong University and its Center of Excellence in Tourism (COET) as it strengthens our ability to provide high-quality, industry-relevant training. It will equip students, staff, and local professionals with practical skills, soft skills, and cultural knowledge to support the tourism and hospitality sector and benefit society. The volunteer will assist COET with curriculum development, lesson planning, and innovative ideas to create a model for supporting the sector, while also delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) programs and helping local community businesses.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
