We’re looking for a Software Development Support Officer who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) for 3 months then in-country for 6 weeks.

- To be considered for this role, you’ll need a bachelor or advanced diploma level qualifications in information technology, computer science, engineering (software) or other relevant area as well as experience planning, developing, testing and rolling out a mobile application.
- As a volunteer, you will collaborate with stakeholders, and the Solomon Islands Deaf Association to integrate culturally appropriate and lingustically suitable sign language content into the new app.
About the Partner Organisation
The Solomon Islands Deaf Association (SIDA), based in Honiara, is a not-for-profit organisation that was established to advocate for the rights and needs of the Solomon Islands deaf community. It endeavors to deliver education, training, development projects and other services to improve the quality of life for that community.
Communication is the foundation of SIDA’s long term objectives. Currently there are restrictions on how the deaf community can participate in many aspects of everyday life due the lack of Solomon Islands Sign Language learning resources. SIDA is looking for a volunteer with software development skills to assist with the design, development, testing and implementation of apps (Google and Apple environments) to support and enable users to learn and use SISL.
