We’re looking for a Safeguarding Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in South Africa. 

  • This assignment seeks to build the capacity of the organisation, their stakeholders and beneficiaries on safeguarding. 
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need A relevant qualification in a related field (or equivalent practical experience ideally in the disability sector. 
  • As a volunteer, you will support the review and adaptation of the existing safeguarding policy to ensure alignment with international safeguarding standards and best practices.   

About the Partner Organisation 

Ann Harding Cheshire Home (AHCH) is a residential care facility for adults with permanent physical disability. The facility aims to create a society where persons with disabilities have equal opportunities. Their mission is to assist people with disabilities regardless of their colour, race or creed, by providing the conditions necessary for their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  

This assignment will play a crucial role in strengthening safeguarding measures within the organisation, their stakeholders and beneficiaries. The volunteer will support the implementation of the organisation's safeguarding policy and support the team to make it accessible, understandable, and part of the organisation's culture.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
