We’re looking for a Safeguarding Development Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Oe-Cusse - RAEOA, Timor-Leste.

  • This assignment seeks to lead the development of Child Protection Policies (CPP) and Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) policies, ensuring all personnel working within RAEOA and ZEEDOA offices adhere to ethical safeguarding standards.  
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Degree in Social Work, Law, Human Rights, Policy Development, or a related field.
  • You will be working alongside relevant government officials at the Region.
  • As a volunteer, you will support capacity building, reporting, and mentoring
  • Participate in meetings, planning, consulting, and workshops. 
  • Provide support in Strengthening Safeguarding policies
  • Work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through [outline specific SDG contribution...] 

About the Partner Organisation 

On January 31, 2024, the Timor Leste Prime Minister officially inaugurated the newly appointed President of the Oe-Cússe Ambeno Special Administrative Region Authority (RAEOA), along with the Executive Committee members tasked with overseeing the establishment of a Special Economic Development Zone in Oe-Cússe Ambeno. This appointment reflects a strategic shift aimed at redefining operational autonomy for RAEOA, in alignment with the Government’s Programme. The Special Economic Zone Development of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (ZEEDOA) is an initiative aimed at fostering economic growth and sustainable development in the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA), Timor-Leste. The Safeguarding Policies Development Mentor will play a critical role in establishing, strengthening, and implementing safeguarding frameworks within the Regional Authority of Oe-Cússe Ambeno (RAEOA) and the Special Economic Development Zone (ZEEDOA) . The mentor will lead the development of Child Protection Policies (CPP) and Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) policies , ensuring all personnel working within RAEOA and ZEEDOA offices adhere to ethical safeguarding standards.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
