About the Partner Organisation
The Triangle Project is a non-profit LGBTQI+ human rights and social justice organisation, established in 1981 and based in Cape Town, South Africa. Their mission is to promote and protect intersectional justice and the rights of LGBTQI+ persons, their partners, families and communities. Triangle Project work is shaped by black, intersectional, feminist politics using a comprehensive approach linking research, advocacy, community engagement, capacity strengthening, health and support services, and hate crime monitoring. As the oldest LGBTQI+-led organisation in South Africa, they have over 4 decades of experience in actively engaging communities, government, political parties, parliament, human rights bodies, civil society, service providers and the media on realising SOGIESC rights and socio-economic justice for LGBTQI+ and intersecting marginalised communities.
The Triangle Project has grown significantly since 2021, and gained significant momentum and impact with their work. Triangle Project's growth has also meant that they no longer qualify for the smaller grants that they used to receive.
This volunteer assignment is important to help them ensure the sustainability of the organisation, specifically through scaling up their funding proposals and ensuring greater success in bigger and more technical grant applications. They also hope to develop and implement alternative fundraising and resource mobilisation strategies. Triangle welcomes LGBTQI+ applications and their allies within the sector to apply for this assignment.
