We’re looking for a Research Mentor (Anthropology) who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 6 months.
- This assignment seeks to strengthen the capacities of researchers in academic writing and international publishing
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need an advanced degree in a Relevant Field, Anthropology is preferred A Master's or PhD in education, linguistics, communication, research methodology, or a related academic discipline, with a strong background in academic writing and publishing.
- As a volunteer, you will offer training on identifying appropriate journals, understanding the peer review process, responding to reviewers, and addressing ethical considerations in publishing
About the Partner Organisation
The Institute of Anthropology is a research institute, directly under Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. The function of The Institute of Anthropology are: Basic, general research combined with applied research and forecasts of anthropological issues in Vietnam and the world, in order to contribute scientific substantiations for the formation and execution of ethnic policy of Vietnamese government; attends to Vietnam’s industrialization, modernization, and international integration; take part in scientific consultant and higher education training on ethnology and anthropology. The number of published works in the social sciences, and anthropology is still limited compared to the potential due to lack of international publishing experience and limitations in English. We hope that with the help of international experts in this field, we will be able to increase international publications in the near future. The volunteer will be supporting the institute with building capacities of researchers in academic writing and publishing in internationally recognized journals and magazines.

There are two allowances for a hybrid assignment.
The allowance for the in-country phase is AUD$ 1996 per month, the allowance for the remote phase is AUD$ 79 per month.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
