We’re looking for a Project Officer and Mentor for Sustainability & English Educator who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Timor-Leste.

  • This assignment seeks to strengthen the Balibo 5 Community Centre’s capacity for sustainable development and English language education.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a relevant degree and experience in sustainability, education, or community development.
  • As a volunteer, you will support capacity building, mentoring, and strategic planning

About the Partner Organisation

The Balibo 5 Community Centre, based in the historic Balibo House in Timor-Leste’s western district, serves as a hub for community wellbeing and development. It hosts a museum honoring the Balibo 5 and local martyrs, and delivers locally led services including free dental care, oral health programs, clean water initiatives, education, women’s empowerment, social enterprises, and tourism. The volunteer will bring fresh ideas, research, and coordination support to test approaches the local team hasn’t had the capacity to pursue. This is a supportive, non-operational role that complements the work of existing staff without taking on or replacing the team’s core service delivery responsibilities.
