We’re looking for a Project and Technical Mentor in the environment, climate and energy field who can live and volunteer in Lesotho for 7 months. 

  • Provide support to the UNDP team to improve data-driven decision-making and strengthen institutional capabilities. 
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need Qualifications in Environment, Climate Change and Energy as well as experience in design and implementation of community development projects.   
  • As a volunteer, you will support the improvement of program delivery and contribute to more impactful outcomes for vulnerable communities.

About the Partner Organisation 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Maseru, Lesotho, works in the Kingdom of Lesotho helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. They support the government of Lesotho to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

This assignment will strengthen the UNDP Lesotho’s capacity within its Energy and Environment Program to deliver sustainable, community-driven development. The volunteer will support strategic areas such as project management, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building, enhancing operational efficiency and long-term resilience. They will assist in building strategic partnerships and supporting efforts in resource mobilisation for environmental, energy and climate-related initiatives, and help with identifying and documenting ongoing development efforts.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include providing or attaining a First Aid Certificate.
