We’re looking for a Program Officer (Climate change)  who can live and volunteer for 8 months in Mongolia. 

  • This assignment seeks to Strengthen programme development by effectively contributing to the design and advancement of high‑impact climate initiatives
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need advanced degree in Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Sustainable Development, or related field.
  • You will be working alongside with core programme teams to mainstream climate adaptation, resilience building, and sustainable ecosystem management into existing and newly developed projects.  
  • Provide support on monitoring, learning, and adaptive management processes by sharing relevant international experience and evidence-based practices that can enhance programme quality and impact. 

About the Partner Organisation 

UNDP Mongolia supports sustainable development, democratic governance, and climate resilience in partnership with national and local institutions, civil society, and international partners. Climate action is central to UNDP’s mandate and its contribution to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in addressing Mongolia’s challenges related to land degradation, climate change, and socio‑economic inequality. 

UNDP’s climate portfolio strengthens national resilience, advances low‑carbon development, and supports vulnerable communities through risk‑informed adaptation, nature‑based solutions, improved early warning systems, and enhanced climate modeling capacity.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.   
  • First Aid Certificate.
