Professional Development Mentor

We’re looking for a Professional Development Mentor who can volunteer remotely from home for 6 months.

About the partner organisation 

Souphanouvong University (SU) is situated in Luang Prabang and was established in November 2003. The mission of SU is to provide higher education to labor forces through teaching-learning and training processes to meet socio-economic development demands of northern Laos. This assignment is very important for the Australian Volunteers Program and Souphanouvong University to cooperate and stay in touch for human resource development, given that teaching and learning are a life-long process. The majority of SU lecturers lack good academic English knowledge and research skills, which can be seen in real-life communication. Many of the teachers want to write their research articles in English, and so they need to have good English skills. Last but not least, some teachers might be planning to apply for a scholarship and study in an English-speaking country. Therefore, it is utterly significant to have the volunteer to guide and help them with professional development so that they might achieve their goals, and at the same time, it is important for the volunteer and partner colleagues to build strong relationships.
