We’re looking for a Plumber Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Tonga.
- This assignment seeks to capacity build staff and reduce non-revenue water losses.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be a qualified Plumber with a current plumbing licence and a minimum of 5 years experience, ideally in the maintenance of water distribution.
- As a volunteer, you will support the improvement of response times with suitable recording of completed jobs.
About the Partner Organisation
The Tonga Water Board(TWB) is the national utility responsible for providing safe and reliable water supply and sanitation services in the Kingdom of Tonga. Established to address the growing need for sustainable water management, the TWB plays a critical role in ensuring access to clean water for Tonga's population, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas.
There is currently a shortage of skills in the distribution department, particularly plumbers, who are essential for addressing non-revenue, logging of jobs, documenting works. Additional personnel with advanced expertise is required to effectively support the management of these challenges and capacity build local staff. The main challenge is the increase in non-revenue water so a volunteer plumber would work closely with the engineering manager and the distribution team to ensure water is delivered at consistent pressure and excellent quality, thus ensuring customer satisfaction.
