We’re looking for a Pharmacy Mentor - Clinical who can live and volunteer for 12 months in the Solomon Islands.

  • As a volunteer, you will support the work of the Medicines Information Centre in developing Standard Treatment Guidelines, help to develop educational material for patients and health workers, and strengthening of Clinical Pharmacy services.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy experience and if possible Post graduate qualifications in Education or Public Health.
  • You will be working alongside Medicine Information Pharmacist, Principal and Chief Pharmacists, the National Training Pharmacist, as well as the Director of the Division to improve equal and safe access to Essential Medicines in the Solomon Islands.

About the Partner Organisation 

The National Pharmacy Services Division sits within the Ministry of Health. The Division runs the National Medical Stores, Medicines Information Centre, National Pharmacy Training Unit, Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs Unit and 18 Provincial Second Level Medical Stores. It also operates a Pharmacy Department within the National Referral Hospital. Currently, the Division has a workforce of over 80 staff.


The Division’s objective is to manage the Essential Medicines system in the Solomon Islands, primarily through the provision of medicines and medical equipment to the public health sector and the facilitation of training and advocacy on medicine use. This role supports the objective of ”Investing in people, communities and links to Australia and the region” of the Australia’s development Partnership Plan with Solomon Islands.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include providing or attaining a First Aid Certificate.
