We’re looking for a People and Culture Systems Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in [Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea.
· This assignment seeks to conduct a comprehensive HR audit and develop integrated People and Culture frameworks across key domains, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, workforce planning, industrial relations, occupational health and safety, and volunteer/reservist workforce management.
· To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
· As a volunteer, you will support HR staff and line managers to provide on-the-job mentoring and strengthen competence in implementing new HR frameworks.
About the Partner Organisation
St John Ambulance Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a leading emergency medical service provider operating across key regions of the country, including the National Capital District, Central Province, parts of Gulf Province, and emerging provincial partnerships. As a trusted first responder organisation, St John delivers ambulance services, pre-hospital emergency care, community health programs, and training for healthcare workers and the public.
The organisation aims to strengthen PNG’s emergency and primary healthcare systems by providing high-quality, rapid-response medical services and lifesaving clinical education. St John works closely with the National Department of Health, provincial health authorities, hospitals, community leaders and international partners to improve access to timely medical care and to build national capacity in emergency medicine.
A skilled international volunteer can provide the specialised expertise needed to design and integrate comprehensive People and Culture systems across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, workforce planning, safety, and volunteer management. This level of technical HR systems-building knowledge is not readily available locally, particularly within the context of emergency services and ambulance operations.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include first aid certificate.
