We’re looking for a Paediatric Teaching and Research Mentor who can live and volunteer for 5 months in Laos.
- This assignment seeks to support paediatric workforce development and the quality of the paediatric training program to ensure graduation of paediatricians who are clinical leaders, educators and researchers.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need Hold a medical degree and APHRA registration and have practiced medicine for at least 3 years since graduation
- As a volunteer, you will support projects identified to help education and research activities including curriculum development and research projects, to build long term capacity
About the Partner Organisation
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) mission is ‘to work together with its partners to improve the health of all people of Lao PDR through contribution to education, research and service to the community’. It is the only institution in Lao PDR to graduate medical doctors and is a key training centre for other health professionals including nurses, allied health, dentists, pharmacists and public health physicians. The University includes the Institute for Research and Education Development which aims to work across faculties to support the development of the health workforce and the care that is delivered but support education program and curriculum development, clinical research and research skill development and the development of professionalism. The University of Health Science has a number of affiliated teaching hospitals in which its staff work, and students learn. In addition, it is working towards the opening of its own University Teaching Hospital in Vientiane Capital. The Paediatric Teaching and Research Mentor will support the Paediatric Residency Program delivered by UHS through direct teaching and student supervision, learning and teaching resource development and through specific projects identified at a local level.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
