We’re looking for a Paediatric Medicine Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Laos
About the partner organisation
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) mission is ‘to work together with its partners to improve the health of all people of Lao PDR through contribution to education, research and service to the community’. It is the only institution in Lao PDR to graduate medical doctors and is a key training centre for other health professionals including nurses, allied health, dentists, pharmacists and public health physicians. The volunteer will support the delivery of teaching and learning activities, while reviewing the quality of the programs and will work with Lao Faculty to identify and implement improvements. This may include teaching and learning materials, assessments, curriculum design or faculty development. In addition, they will work with individual clinicians to support research design, study completion and research writing. The University of Health Sciences in the only University in Laos which teaches medical doctors. Their faculty have a wealth of knowledge in understanding the education needs and potential ways to support doctors and other health professionals who graduate from their institution to deliver care often in rural and remote areas. The volunteer will learn about building and supporting a workforce in a resource-limited context and will have the opportunity to innovate and problem solve.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include Frist Aid Certificate.
