We’re looking for an Organisational Management Support Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in the Solomon Islands.

  • This assignment seeks to support the team to initially review the plans for the first six months of the Naha BUHA.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be a Senior Clinician with relevant qualifications such as a Doctor, Nurse/Midwife or Allied Health professional. ​​
  • You will be working alongside the Director to ensure all aspects of operations and specialty staff areas are providing the outcomes expected.

About the Partner Organisation 

Honiara City Council (HCC) Health Services provides primary healthcare, environmental health (like food safety), and public health programs (NCDs, STI/HIV), managing local clinics and collaborating with national bodies (MHMS) and partners (WHO, donors) for training, surveillance, and policy to improve community health in Honiara, focusing on leadership and capacity building for better outcomes.

​​The primary aim of the Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre (BUCH) which is under the HCC includes: 

​Providing quality, accessible healthcare to residents of Naha and the rapidly growing eastern suburbs of Honiara, closer to where they live. 

​Reducing the workload on the National Referral Hospital (NRH) by managing primary health care issues and non-complicated births, which currently account for a significant portion of NRH's services. Improving maternal and infant health outcomes by offering a modern, safe environment for births, including pre and post-natal care. 

​​The Naha BUCH is the Australian Government’s largest Infrastructure investment in many years, The successful functioning of the Naha BUHC is critical to the Australian and Solomon Islands in Government. They are looking for volunteer support to mentor and guide the Director of Naha BUHC to ensure successful operationalization of the Naha BUHC.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
