About the Partner Organisation
Erkhem Nandin Suvd (ENS) is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation established in 2019 to promote the rights and best interests of children with disabilities, regardless of their type. It provides holistic and essential rehabilitation and educational services to children with severe and complex disabilities, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools and early childhood educational settings. Our vision is to promote the rights, well-being, and development of children with severe types of disability who are excluded from inclusiveness and who cannot participate in mainstream kindergarten and school. Occupational therapy is an emerging profession in Mongolia, and there is a critical shortage of skilled and experienced practitioners trained to work with children with intellectual disabilities. Our center currently has only one occupational therapist, who is keen to improve theoretical and practical knowledge and experience by working with the Australian volunteer. The volunteer will help to improve not only the occupational therapist’s skill and knowledge but also our local team’s capacity to support the children-particularly those with intellectual disabilities and autism in developing essential skills for daily living, play and learning. Additionally, the volunteer will deliver workshops and training sessions for parents of children with disabilities, helping them better understand developmental assessments and gain knowledge to support their child’s rehabilitation and learning.
