We’re looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation Mentor who can live and volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 12 months.

  • This assignment seeks to implement and refine the enhanced M&E frameworks and systems alongside the Buka team, ensuring data collection, analysis, and reporting meet donor and organisational requirements.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
  • As a volunteer, you will work alongside local M&E officers to support the rollout of improved data collection and management practices, ensuring quality and compliance.

About the Partner Organisation

CARE International in Papua New Guinea (CARE PNG) is part of the global CARE International confederation, dedicated to reducing poverty and providing humanitarian assistance. Since 1989, CARE PNG has operated primarily in remote and underserved areas across Papua New Guinea, with its headquarters in Goroka and regional offices in Morobe and Bougainville.

Our aim is to empower vulnerable communities, especially women and girls, through a rights-based and gender-sensitive approach. We work closely with local communities, government agencies, and civil society organizations to promote gender equality, improve maternal and child health, increase girls’ access to education, prevent gender-based violence, and enhance disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. We also focus on supporting sustainable livelihoods.

A volunteer with experience in M&E will support this role by implementing and enhancing existing M&E frameworks and systems. Due to the specialised nature of M&E skills and limited local availability, this position cannot be filled locally. The volunteer will also provide essential mentoring and training to build the capacity of a local M&E officer, ensuring sustainability beyond the assignment period.
