We’re looking for a Mental Health Policy Mentor who can live and volunteer in Kiribati for 12 months. 

  • This assignment seeks to improve the organisations knowledge, skills, and resources to provide better mental health and psychosocial services and support.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Postgraduate qualification in psychology, child psychology, social work, counselling or a related fields with a minimum of 5 years experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support services.
  • You will be working alongside MWYSSA to ensure they have updated standards and accreditation processes for child counselling in Kiribati.

About the Partner Organisation 

The vision of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Sport and Social Affairs (MWYSSA), based in Tarawa, aims to be "a leading institution in providing inclusive quality and standards services to protect and enhance dignity, rights, safety, and welfare of people". The Ministry is made up of the following divisions: Women Development Division; Youth, Sport, Disability, NGOs; and the Social Welfare Division (SWD). The SWD is the leading government organization working to promote the rights and wellbeing of every child in Kiribati.

The core aim of requesting the support of a volunteer is to bolster MWYSSA's capabilities in mental health and psychosocial supportive services (MHPSS). This involves empowering MWYSSA to oversee MHPSS interventions within the country and take the lead in coordinating a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach to MHPSS.

Allowance

We cover your flights, insurance, and provide a living and accommodation allowance. Learn more here

AUD$ 1417 per month for living allowance and accommodation is provided.   

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments. 
  • Attain or provide a First Aid Certificate.
