We’re looking for a Liaison Officer - Program Developer (Health) who can volunteer in country for 6 months then remotely from home for 3 months.

  • This assignment will also have the volunteer provide training to outreach teams and healthcare workers to ensure consistency and accuracy in patient evaluations.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a degree or certification in an allied health field as well as experience in conducting health assessments and developing standardised tools.
  • Provide support working on a structured approach to enhance the consistency and effectiveness of the outreach efforts for the children on the program.

About the Partner Organisation

Kafika House, based in Arusha, is a rehabilitative surgery program in northern Tanzania. It provides a home away from home for children receiving pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation for a surgically treatable disability. Kafika House's scope of practice encompasses patient recruitment through outreach, preoperative care, surgical care at one of partner hospitals, and full recuperation and rehabilitation.

The volunteer will help the team to develop a standardised assessment and reporting framework to improve the identification, referral, and treatment of the children. A structured approach will enhance the consistency and effectiveness of the outreach efforts, ensuring that children receive timely and appropriate care. While the organisation prioritises local recruitment, there is a shortage of allied health professionals with expertise in developing standardized assessment tools, particularly in the NGO sector. The volunteer with experience in outreach, disability assessment, and rehabilitation will provide valuable knowledge transfer and capacity building, equipping the team with sustainable skills for long-term impact.
