About the Partner Organisation
The Royal Institute of Management (RIM), established as Bhutan's apex management institute in 1986 and was incorporated as an autonomous institute in 1990 under the Royal Charter with a Board of Directors as its governing authority. As the only government management Institute, RIM has been solely engaged in supporting the human resource development needs of the country, including the civil service. The Royal Institute of Management currently has 14 lecturers within the Department of Accounts and Business. However, due to the high attrition rate and large number of lecturers leaving for further studies, the Institute anticipates a shortage in qualified lecturers by 2026 with a projection of approximately 500 new civil service recruits that will require training as well as senior executives and professionals. Owing to the lack of qualified lecturers, there is a need for a highly qualified volunteer to support the department in closing the capacity gap in the institution by delivering digital accounting, green accounting and, business technology training at Postgraduate and Diploma levels. An Australian Volunteer would be invaluable in addressing the capacity gap at the institute whilst the Institute's lecturers can obtain the required qualification to deliver the post graduate and diploma level training. The Volunteer position will contribute to training and educating the future civil servants and members of Bhutan's private sector amongst others, and contribute to the growth and development of the tertiary education sector in Bhutan.
