We’re looking for an Internal Audit & Controls Mentor who can live and volunteer for 10 months in Lesotho.  

  • This assignment seeks to support LNFOD develop sustainable systems that prevent errors, safeguard resources, and position the organisation for future growth. 
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need relevant qualifications in finance, accounting, auditing, financial risk management or related field and experience in internal audit and financial controls development.
  • Provide support through mentoring in accounting, internal auditing, and financial controls.

About the Partner Organisation 

The Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD), based in Maseru, is the national umbrella body representing organisations of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Lesotho. It works to promote and advocate for the rights and inclusion of all PWDs throughout the country. LNFOD's core aim is to support the empowerment of its member organisations and the wider disability community through advocacy, capacity building, and programmatic interventions.

This volunteer assignment is critical to strengthening LNFOD’s financial integrity, transparency, and accountability, which are essential for maintaining donor confidence, meeting compliance requirements, and ensuring the organisation’s long-term sustainability.  The volunteer will serve as a mentor, working closely with LNFOD’s finance and management teams to build internal capacity and establish robust financial control systems. This includes improving internal audit processes, strengthening risk management practices, and supporting the development of clear policies and procedures that align with international best practices.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include providing or attaining a First Aid Certificate.
