We’re looking for a Hydroponic and Food Security Mentor who can live and volunteer in Tonga for 12 months.

  • This assignment seeks to establish a sustainable, culturally aligned food production system by leveraging hydroponic technology.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a degree in Agriculture or Environmental Science or related field plus experience in Hydroponics.
  • As a volunteer, you will capacity build staff in sustainable food growth and support the sharing of knowledge to the community.

About the Partner Organisation 

Tanoa International Dateline Hotel, based in the heart of Nuku’alofa, has a commitment to community development. Although it’s a hotel, it has initiatives like the Village Operational Development Program empowering local youth and fostering career pathways in hospitality. 

Tonga faces challenges with food import dependency the volunteer can support the hotel to grow fresh produce on-site and offer sustainability.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include providing or attaining a First Aid Certificate.
