We’re looking for a Senior Lecturer - Human Nutrition Capacity Support Mentor who canlive and volunteer for 10 months in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea.

  • This assignment seeks to support the delivery and review of PNG’s first Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition by providing expert guidance in curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and assessment frameworks.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a postgraduate qualification in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field (e.g., Public Health Nutrition).
  • As a volunteer, you will provide ongoing mentorship to academic staff in subject matter expertise, including support and guidance for supervising in-house postgraduate nutrition studies.

About the Partner Organisation

The University of Goroka (UOG) is a leading public university located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. Originally established as a teachers’ college in 1967, it became a fully-fledged university in 1997. UOG primarily serves students from across the Highlands region and beyond, with growing national and regional reach through its expanding academic and research programs.

UOG’s core mission is to provide quality higher education, training, and research that contribute to national development. While teacher education remains its flagship, the university also offers programs in health sciences, agriculture, business, social sciences, and the arts. UOG works closely with government, development partners, schools, and communities to ensure its graduates are equipped with practical skills and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The volunteer Senior Lecturer will provide technical leadership in curriculum development, course delivery, and academic mentorship to ensure the successful establishment of the program. Due to the absence of qualified nutritionists in-country, this expertise cannot currently be sourced locally. The volunteer’s guidance will build the capacity of faculty members and help shape a generation of nutrition graduates who can influence national health policy and practice.
