We’re looking for a Grant Development and Fundraising Specialist who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 9 months.

  • This assignment seeks to conduct research and map potential local and international donors aligned with RSPCA PNG’s programs, including veterinary services, education initiatives, and community outreach.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a tertiary qualification in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, business development, or a related field.
  • As a volunteer, you will support support the delivery of informal training or mentoring sessions on grant writing and donor engagement.

About the Partner Organisation

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Papua New Guinea (RSPCA PNG) is a non-profit organization based in Port Moresby, providing essential animal welfare services across the National Capital District. Our facilities include a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, and education centre, delivering veterinary care, rescue services, and community awareness programs. As the leading animal welfare organization in PNG, we aim to expand our reach to other provinces, ensuring animals in all communities receive compassionate care and protection.

RSPCA PNG’s mission is to promote and safeguard animal welfare through education, advocacy, veterinary services, and community engagement. We work closely with local communities, schools, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to encourage responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals. We also collaborate with international animal welfare organizations to exchange expertise and strengthen our operational capacity.

A volunteer in this assignment would play a key role in supporting these reforms by identifying and securing funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, and assisting with donor engagement strategies. Due to the specialised nature of grant writing, international fundraising experience, and exposure to global best practices, this expertise is not readily available locally. The volunteer’s contribution will provide essential guidance to help RSPCA PNG access new revenue streams and build a more resilient financial model.
