We’re looking for a Gender Equality and Empowerment Mentor who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 12 months.
- This assignment seeks to strengthen the organisation’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment initiatives through capacity building, organisational development, and resource mobilization support.
- As a volunteer, you will support the Jaffna Social Action Centre (JSAC) team to strengthen organisational systems, improve operational effectiveness, and explore sustainable resource mobilization approaches.
- Collaborate closely with JSAC staff and community stakeholders, contributing to the organisation’s ongoing efforts to advance gender equality and protect the rights and wellbeing of women and vulnerable populations in Northern Sri Lanka.
About the partner organisation
Jaffna Social Action Centre (JSAC) was established in 2001 and is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of women and children, with its main coordinating office in Nallur, Jaffna, with regional offices located in Mannar, Mullaitivu, and Kilinochchi.
JSAC's core areas of work include gender equality and the prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV). The organization manages two women’s shelters in the Jaffna and Mullaitivu districts and provides mentoring and technical support to shelters operated by partner organizations in other districts.
The assignment will contribute to enhancing JSAC’s ability to effectively implement its strategic priorities, including women’s economic empowerment programs, women’s political participation initiatives, and services addressing gender-based violence, such as the operation of Safe Houses.
