We’re looking for a GEDSI Mentor who can  volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 6 months.

  • This assignment seeks to finalise and implement a plan to address required changes/additions to documentation to integrate GEDSI into all SBBC practices and programs.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Master's Degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Social Development, International Development, Human Rights, or other social science with a focus on gender studies.
  • As a volunteer, you will facilitate staff training to raise GEDSI awareness and ensure commitment to mainstreaming GEDSI practices into all of SBBC’s work.

About the Partner Organisation

SBB Cambodia is a non-government Cambodian- registered organisation, headquartered in Siem Reap city and operating in the northern rural provinces of Battambang, Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey. The organisation is supported by an international network of registered development organisations in Australia, the UK and Ireland. Our Quality Teaching and Transform Education programs form the lead initiatives and are supported by our Shared Services platform which enables all of our work. We seek to embed all our work at school, district, provincial and national levels. We lack GEDSI expertise among our staff. As GEDSI has not previously been prioritised in Cambodian organisations, it is difficult to recruit locally the specialist expertise needed to guide development and integration of contextually appropriate international standard practices and procedures throughout our organisation and our work program. We require the support of a qualified and experienced GEDSI specialist to bring rigor to this process and build sustainable institutional capacity.

About the Australian Volunteers Program

The Australian Volunteers Program is an Australian government-funded initiative. We support partner organisations across the Pacific, Asia, and Africa to achieve locally led change.

Volunteers are supported throughout their volunteer journey. We actively support and encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer and aim to make the program as accessible and inclusive as possible. If you have accessibility requirements, please contact us to discuss how we can support you to volunteer with us - inclusion@australianvolunteers.com. Learn more about our commitment to inclusion.
