About the Partner Organisation

FOKUPERS was established in 1997 to address gender based violence and human rights violations against women and children, particularly those committed at the time of the Indonesian occupation of Timor Leste. Today, this community-based not-for-profit organisation has been operating for almost twenty-four years and has expanded its service delivery to include victim services, non-gender-based early childhood education, advocacy, and the empowerment of women, both in the community and in Timor Leste as a nation. To further strengthen its organizational effectiveness and financial sustainability, FOKUPERS seeks an Australian volunteer to support the development of key policies, systems, and staff capacity, ensuring effective program implementation and long-term impact. Through this assignment, the volunteer will play a critical role in ensuring FOKUPERS has the necessary resources, capacity, and sustainable funding to continue its life-changing work for women, children, and vulnerable communities across Timor-Leste.
