Food Technician and Trainer

We’re looking for a Food Technician and Trainer who can live and volunteer in Tonga for 12 months.  

• You will be working alongside staff to develop a range of value-added products from local root crops for the local market and export. As well as assisting with food safety, hygiene and quality control.
• To be considered for this role you will need relevant qualifications as well as 3-5 years’ experience in the food industry.
• As a volunteer you will work with the team to provide food security and support local farmers in Tonga.

About the Partner Organisation 

Nishi Trading, based in Utulau, has a mission to be the leading provider of sustainable and socially responsible produce in the pacific and is currently one of the leading exporters of fresh produce in Tonga. It has diversified its operations into six divisions including commercial farming, pack house, quarry and construction materials, farming supplies, pest management services and the Nishi Foundation. It works with over 100 village-based agricultural growers including women and youth.

The volunteer will build the capacity of staff through training and assisting them to develop products for the export and local market, thereby offering more work opportunities for local Tongans.
