Finance & Accounting Mentor

We’re looking for a Finance Accounting Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in-country in Timor-Leste.

• This assignment seeks to implement a comprehensive, IFRS-aligned financial management system that strengthens RTTL, E.P.’s financial sustainability, reduces reliance on the State budget, and supports the expansion of innovative media services.
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, Several years of professional experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, ideally with expertise in IFRS compliance
• You will be working alongside RTTL, E.P., finance, and accounting staff, and senior management, including the Executive Director.
• As a volunteer, you will support RTTL, E.P. by building staff capacity, mentoring in IFRS-based financial management, and strengthening internal controls, budgeting, and reporting systems
• Participate infinancial reporting and compliance meetings, consultations with government and donor stakeholders, as well as training workshops and mentoring sessions with staff, contributing to stronger financial systems and institutional capacity.
• Work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through strengthening transparency, accountability, and governance in financial management (SDG 16), supporting sustainable revenue generation and reducing reliance on state funding (SDG 8), and enabling RTTL, E.P. to expand innovative media services through stronger financial systems (SDG 9).

About the Partner Organisation 

RTTL, E.P. (Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, Public Enterprise) is the national public broadcaster based in Dili, Timor-Leste.

The organisation provides radio and television services with strong national coverage, promoting Timorese culture, democratic values, and innovative media content. It manages both government- and donor-funded programs while seeking to strengthen its commercial arm to generate sustainable income and reduce reliance on the State budget.

RTTL, E.P. requires a volunteer with finance and accounting expertise to support the implementation of a comprehensive, IFRS-aligned financial management system. This external support is essential due to the limited availability of professionals with advanced IFRS-based financial management skills locally, and will help build institutional capacity, ensure transparency, and enhance financial sustainability.
