We’re looking for an Environmental Education and Sustainability Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Laos.
- This assignment seeks to strengthen teachers’ and staff capacity in identifying, analysing, and developing project proposals on water pollution, climate change, and environmental sustainability issues in Luang Prabang
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, or a related field.
- As a volunteer, you will support support the development of innovative and practical solutions that integrate technological, social, and policy approaches to address local environmental challenges
About the Partner Organisation
Souphanouvong University (SU) was established in 2003. The university includes 9 offices, 2 centers, a Confucius Institute, a Central Library, and 6 faculties offering 7 master's programs, 42 bachelor's programs, and 12 continuing education bachelor's programs. International Relations Office is one of the nine offices at Souphanouvong University. It manages international activities and partnerships, linking the university’s departments with external institutions, and focuses on human resources development, agreements, and academic cooperation. The volunteer will support Souphanouvong University to strengthen teachers’ and staff capacity in identifying and developing projects addressing water pollution, climate change, and environmental sustainability in Luang Prabang. They will facilitate training and mentoring to enhance skills in environmental assessment, proposal writing, and research. The volunteer will also assist in designing small-scale demonstration projects and community engagement activities that promote practical and sustainable environmental solutions. In collaboration with local authorities and partners, they will help implement awareness campaigns and advocate for improved environmental practices and policies.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
