We’re looking for an English Language Training & Skills Development Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Laos.

  • This assignment seeks to improve Practical English Communication Skills for Tourism and Hospitality Students
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Tourism, Hospitality or a related field.
  • As a volunteer, you will support to strengthen Employability and International Program Readiness

About the partner organisation 

Souphanouvong University, founded in 2003 in Luang Prabang, is one of Laos’ five public universities. Named after the first President of the Lao PDR, it serves as a hub for higher education and research in northern Laos. Among its six faculties, the Faculty of Economics and Tourism plays a vital role in training professionals for the region’s economic development and thriving tourism industry. The volunteer would support the department by facilitating conversational English activities, tourism-focused communication workshops, Sport-clubs with English speaking trainers, and practical learning sessions related to tourism and hospitality. The volunteer could also assist students with presentation skills, interview preparation, workplace communication, and career readiness. Through mentoring and cultural exchange and sport activities, students would gain valuable exposure to international perspectives while strengthening their language and professional competencies.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
