Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP) is looking for a English Language Teacher Trainer who can live and volunteer for 6 months in North Jakarta, Indonesia.


  • This assignment is crucial for STIP for its mission to prepare future seafarers for international careers. While the curriculum provides a strong foundation in maritime knowledge and skills, yet fluency and confidence in English communication are equally vital for success. The volunteer, who is an English native speaker will be essential to improve our lecturers’ English language teaching method and approach.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a certificate or a degree in teaching English for English teachers, and/or at least three years' experience in teaching English for non-native English teachers. Basic understanding of maritime industry is a plus.
  • As a volunteer, you will Explore different teaching methods that are applicable for everyone with different backgrounds and different capabilities. 

About the Partner Organisation 

Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP) is located in Marunda, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. It is a college under the Ministry of Transportation that has been the center of maritime education and produces excellent seafarers who are ready to work at the international level. The college has been established in 1953 and is still striving to provide quality education and training to meet the demands of the global market.

 

The college offers various specialised programs and certifications to ensure that the graduates are well-equipped for the challenges in the maritime industry. There are three main major studies in STIP: nautical study, marine engineering, and port and shipping management.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional Requirements include a First Aid Certificate
