About the Partner Organisation
Established in April 2018, the Anambas Foundation (AF) is an Indonesian non-profit organization focused on fostering sustainable development in the Anambas Islands. Our mission is to enhance the region's ecosystems—both marine and terrestrial—while improving the welfare of its communities. We achieve this through three key pillars: Above (Forest Conservation), Below (Marine Conservation), and Beyond (Community Development).
The Anambas Archipelago is home to over 255 islands spanning ten sub-districts, with a population of approximately 45,000 people. Around 75-80% of the residents depend heavily on the ocean for their livelihood. Situated in the Coral Triangle, the region has exceptional marine biodiversity, offering immense potential for eco-marine tourism. Its fringing reefs, clear and warm waters, and sheltered conditions make it an ideal destination for snorkeling and scuba diving.
The Anambas Foundation works directly with local communities and collaborates closely with the District Government of the Anambas to protect the region’s ecosystems while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
