About the Partner Organisation

The University of Goroka (UOG) is a leading public university located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. Originally established as a teachers’ college in 1967, it became a fully-fledged university in 1997. UOG primarily serves students from across the Highlands region and beyond, with growing national and regional reach through its expanding academic and research programs.

UOG’s core mission is to provide quality higher education, training, and research that contribute to national development. While teacher education remains its flagship, the university also offers programs in health sciences, agriculture, business, social sciences, and the arts. UOG works closely with government, development partners, schools, and communities to ensure its graduates are equipped with practical skills and a strong sense of social responsibility.

A volunteer who is a native English speaker is needed to mentor and guide English tutors in both content delivery and digital teaching methods. Many local tutors lack the skills to teach effectively using digital tools, such as online applications, video platforms, and blended learning resources. This gap limits the reach and impact of the course, making external support essential.
