About the Partner Organisation

Yayasan Hasyim was established in 1899 by KH. Muhammad Hasyim Asy'ari, a well-known cleric who with other clerics in Dutch East Indies founded a traditionalist Muslims organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in 1926.

The foundation manages a boarding school named Pesantren Tebuireng, which has been in operation for 123 years. In the boarding school, the foundation has developed a range of formal and non-formal education programs with more than 5,000 students from across Indonesia. These programs include one elementary school, four junior high schools, four high schools, two higher education institutions, and one religious studies institution. The presence of these educational institutions within the community holds a special significance, as it reflects the values of service and care for the people. In addition to its educational programs, Pesantren Tebuireng also offers community services, such as health center and economic activities (e.g. saving and credit cooperative). These services provide support to the community and help to improve the well-being of the people.
