About the Partner Organisation

The Disability Inclusion Division (DID) is one of the key divisions within the Ministry of Women, Youth, Sports and Social Affairs, and it is responsible for advancing the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in Kiribati. Its main role is to develop and implement programs that strengthen the capacity, confidence, and participation of people with disabilities in all areas of life. This includes providing training opportunities, awareness programs, and community-based initiatives that promote inclusion and equal access to services.

The Division leads the development and review of disability-related policies and frameworks to ensure they align with national priorities and international human-rights standards. A key part of its mandate is fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, Disabled Persons’ Organisations, NGOs, Church Based Organizations and community groups, so that people with disabilities are protected, not discriminated against, and able to fully enjoy their rights.

Through this assignment, the organization hopes to gain specialized assistance in policy development, data collection, project planning, and capacity building. It will also help to accelerate key priorities such as reviewing the National Disability Policy, updating guidelines for the Disability Support Allowance, and improving internal staff skills.
