About the Partner Organisation
NGO Belun was founded in 2004, and focuses on three main pillars: conflict prevention and promotion of peace, community inclusive capacity development and research, policy development and advocacy. Belun’s strategic plan 2023-2028 reaffirmed Belun's vision: that Timor-Leste society has the ability, creativity, and critical thinking to develop peace for sustainable democracy; and Belun's mission: to serve an inclusive society, prevent conflict and promote peace with integrity and creativity. Over the last 19 years, Belun has gained valuable working experience across the Municipalities of Timor-Leste and has conducted a variety of projects, programs and interventions aimed at engaging local communities in the consolidation of peace and the advancement of sustainable and inclusive development in Timor-Leste. As part of its mandate, Belun has been engaging with youth and women in both rural and urban areas in capacity-building activities and research on a variety of topics related to conflict transformation, civic education and economic empowerment. As Belun begins to implement its new strategic plan, it needs to have support from a qualified volunteer to mentor and work alongside the Belun management team.
