We’re looking for a Conservation and Ranger Support Officer who can live and volunteer for 12 months in the Solomon Islands.
- As a volunteer, you will support the TDA Manager and Senior Rangers with major programs and activities to ensure the organisation’s growth and sustainability.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need Experience with delivering environmental or social projects in remote regions as well as small business or NGO management
- You will be working alongside management and the external advisory panel to apply for and manage grants to assist in conservation management, ecotourism services and community benefits including sustainable livelihoods in TDA villages.
About the Partner Organisation
The Tetepare Descendants’ Association(TDA), based in Honiara, is the largest landowners' association in Solomon Islands and was established to avert the risk of logging operations being invited onto the islands, ensuring it remains a home for wildlife. It is now a conservation site of world importance and provides unique ecotourism opportunities. As an internationally acclaimed conservation and cultural icon, it is soon to be gazetted as a National Park. The TDA represents the traditional landowners of Tetepare Island and is responsible for managing the island and providing employment and sustainable livelihood options for its members.
Following the departure of TDA's original local manager, and then a 3 year hiatus in operations due to Covid, the organisation requires a mentor to build capacity of a new interim local manager and key staff to enable them to rebuild their reputation for delivery of conservation and social benefit.
