Communications and Social Media Mentor

We’re looking for a Communications and Social Media Mentor who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 12 months. 

• This assignment seeks to provide hands-on mentorship and training to CARE PNG communications staff in multimedia content creation, storytelling techniques, and social media management to build sustainable local capacity.
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in communications, Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• As a volunteer, you will support and mentor local staff through practical training sessions on multimedia content creation and social media management.  

About the Partner Organisation 

CARE International in Papua New Guinea (CARE PNG) is part of the global CARE International confederation, dedicated to reducing poverty and providing humanitarian assistance. Since 1989, CARE PNG has operated primarily in remote and underserved areas across Papua New Guinea, with its headquarters in Goroka and regional offices in Morobe and Bougainville.

Our aim is to empower vulnerable communities, especially women and girls, through a rights-based and gender-sensitive approach. We work closely with local communities, government agencies, and civil society organizations to promote gender equality, improve maternal and child health, increase girls’ access to education, prevent gender-based violence, and enhance disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. We also focus on supporting sustainable livelihoods. 

A volunteer in this role brings specialized expertise in digital communications, multimedia production, and strategic advocacy that is not widely available locally. Beyond delivering quality content, the volunteer mentors CARE PNG staff, builds sustainable communication systems, and introduces innovative tools and international best practices. These advanced skills and external perspectives help fill critical gaps and enhance CARE’s communication capacity beyond what local recruitment can currently achieve.
