We’re looking for a Clinical Educator - General Medicine and Cardiac Care who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Timor-Leste

  • This assignment seeks to strengthen the cardiac workforce capacity at Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares (HNGV) by enhancing the clinical knowledge, skills, and confidence of medical staff in the Cardiac Unit. The assignment will help improve the quality and accessibility of cardiac care in Timor-Leste and support the development of sustainable specialist health services.
  • To be considered for this role, you'll need a degree in Medicine, Nursing, or a related health discipline, with extensive clinical experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or a related specialty. Experience in clinical education, mentoring, and workforce capacity strengthening is highly desirable.
  • You will be working alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals within the Cardiac Unit at HNGV, as well as key stakeholders from the Timor-Leste Hearts Fund.
  • As a volunteer, you will support capacity building through clinical teaching, mentoring, supervision, and the development of evidence-based clinical protocols and guidelines.

About the partner organisation

Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares (HNGV) is Timor-Leste’s only tertiary referral hospital and is located in Dili, Timor-Leste.

HNGV provides secondary and tertiary healthcare services to patients referred from across the country and serves as the national teaching hospital for health professionals. In partnership with the Timor-Leste Hearts Fund, HNGV is working to strengthen cardiac services and workforce capacity through the Cardiac Workforce Strengthening Program.

HNGV requires a volunteer Clinical Educator to support the development of specialist cardiac care skills among medical staff within the Cardiac Unit. Due to the limited availability of experienced cardiac educators and specialists in Timor-Leste, the volunteer will provide mentoring, clinical education, and technical support to strengthen local workforce capacity and promote sustainable improvements in cardiac care services.
